Platform: PC Genre: Simulation Release Year: 2003 Game Name: Sims: Makin' Magic Expansion Rating: T - Teen Format: NTSC (N. America) UPC: 09. Product Information Billed as the 'expansion pack finale' for the best-selling series of home computer games, Makin' Magic is the seventh and last add-on for Maxis' original The Sims. This autumn 2003 addition brings an assortment of magical powers and abilities to Sims characters, allowing them to take care of household chores with a snap, win the affection of an unrequited love using special charms, or even turn a bothersome neighbor into a frog. Of course, employing such powerful witchcraft can be tricky, and spells that are not performed carefully and correctly may backfire on their casters.
Each spell in the game can backfire in a different way, bringing such maladies as lightning strikes or plagues of toads to the neighborhood. For their best shot at getting a spell right, Sims may want to visit the new 'Magic Town' area, where they can shop for equipment, learn new spell recipes, and demonstrate their powers in competition against special NPC opponents. Magically-gifted Sims can prove their skills against new 'Questing' NPCs, and earn 'MagiCoins' if they can best these characters in duels. MagiCoins offer access to spell components.
As in previous Sims expansion packs, Makin' Magic also includes many new house objects with which Sims can interact, including beehives, spinning wheels, butter churns, and other equipment that can be used to create spell ingredients. My Favourite Expansion For those, like me, who enjoyed the original Sims, Makin' Magic, is a must have expansion. When the Sims first came out, I was entranced by the idea of creating your own person or family and escape reality for a few minutes and live in thier world of getting a job, getting married, having kids all while trying to move your way up through thier chosen career. At one point I owned the entire line of the original Sims starting from when they first came out. After playing the original Sims I would purchase the new expansion and get hooked even more.
From Livin' Large and Houseparty to Hot Date and Superstar I was enamored with the Sims. Makin' Magic was released and I couldn't wait to see what new surprises it had in store for my Sims and thier families.
When I purchased it and loaded onto my computer years ago, I was amazed. It reminded me of the Harry Potter series (possibly why they came out with it.) Out of all the expansion, Makin' Magic is my favourite. I began telling my friends about the Sims and they got interested.
I lent my set out and when it returned I was missing a couple of the expansions, one of the missing were the Makin' Magic expansion. So when I saw it for sale, I jumped on it. Now that there are newer versions of the Sims, such as Sims 2 and the upcoming Sims 3, the originals are obsolete. However, they are still fun and bring back lots of memories of the time I had spent building up the set and trying to reach new heights as Sim character in the original Sims, but with magic ability back again. The Final Chapter of the Sims 1 Okay if anyone out there has the Sims and didn't try this add-on then they have really missed out! Magic, and there is plenty.
